Owl Tours - 2022
January and February are great months to look for owls. Species such as Short-eared Owls and

most vocal. The provisional dates for our Owl Tours for 2022 are as follows:
- Sunday January 9th
- Saturday January 15th
- Tuesday February 8th
- Saturday February 12th
An Owl Tour can also form part of a longer three day Winter Birdwatching break, including a combination of
additional day trips in North Norfolk for wildfowl and waders and to the Broads for Cranes, Geese and Raptors,
spread across Friday to Sunday. For more details, please see the
Winter Tours
page. Our featured three day tour for 2021 is as follows:

Tour Details & Prices
A number of Short-eared Owls generally arrive from the continent in October
and November. They often take up residence and may remain in Norfolk for the whole winter. The best locations for
seeing Short-eared Owls vary depending on the availability of prey, so we normally have the
best chance of seeing them on the longer tours.
We will also look for our three commoner resident owl species on these tours – Barn Owls,
Little Owls and Tawny Owls. With food increasingly scarce in the latter part
of the winter, Barn Owls are most likely now to be active during daylight hours. Little
Owls are rather scarce, but we have several regular sites for this species where we can see them perched
out in the mornings. Tawny Owls are at their most vocal and we have a site where we can often see
them emerging from their roost at dusk, but in 2019 we were also fortunate to have one which roosted out in the
daytime. There will also be the chance to see many other species, other than owls, during the day.
The price of the Owl Tour, as a standalone day tour, will be £50 per person. The tour
will operate as a standard day, looking for Little Owls in the morning, Short-eared and Barn Owls in the
afternoon and Tawny Owls at dusk, with the opportunity for some more general birding during the middle of the day.
